Welcome to Little Paws Doggie Rescue
Little Paws Doggie Rescue was the brainchild of four women in the Sacramento area that had been previously involved with another dog rescue years ago. In early 2020 we got to thinking that with the huge increase in dogs that had been adopted from shelters throughout the United States during the COVID-19 pandemic, there could be a massive problem once the pandemic was over. We were afraid that the majority of these dogs would be returned to the shelters when people went back to work. We decided to form Little Paws Doggie Rescue to help alleviate that problem, if it did occur. Even if our fears were not realized, we knew that there would always be a need for dog rescues such as Little Paws in the Sacramento area.
Our Mission
We are a small, local, all-volunteer, non-profit dog rescue in the Sacramento area. We specialize in small dogs that are senior, hard-to-place, injured, abused, neglected, pregnant or nursing. Most of our dogs come from the Sacramento area but they are placed within all of our surrounding counties. Some are surrendered by seniors that can no longer care for them. Others are found wandering the streets and are never claimed, but most come from our local animal shelters. Since most of our dogs are seniors, abused or neglected, they require more time in our system and have higher medical bills. These dogs require a lot of care, love and patience but with help from people like you they will find a special person to love them for whatever time they have left whether it be six months, a year or 10 years.
How you can help
Our biggest need is financial assistance to pay for veterinary bills. They require spays and neuters, blood tests, heart worm tests, x-rays and especially dental cleanings, which are very expensive. Since most of our dogs come to us with both physical and mental issues, their veterinary bills can be very expensive. Little Paws can also use many of the items that are listed on our wish list on Chewy.com's "Chewy Gives Back". Please click the links below to be taken to our donation pages.
